ALC - Sekapp Orchard Experience

With funding raised during the First Liz Quackenbush Charity Golf Event, the Foundation was able to support ALC students by providing the transportation expenses necessary for a trip to Sekapp Orchard located in SE Rochester, MN. A total of nine students were able to participate in this activity and truley enjoyed their expereinces while there!

During their time at the orchard, the students toured the farm, picked apples and made applesauce. The students not only learned about apples and the growing and harvesting processes but also about farming and working in nature and what the fruits of their labors was able to produce. Opportunities like these show the students that not only are they connected to nature but that there are non-traditional career opportunities that exist that they might not have been exposed to otherwise. Each of the students were also able to take a bag of apples home to help share their experience with their families and friends.
